Sometimes we have a quiet week and sometimes many events fall in quick succession, last weekend we had a particularly busy few days with our club social, helping Leith Rotary with their fantastic anual Dragon Boat event, and the first “social” meeting of our new meeting rota.
Zoo late nights may well become a club tradition as this is the second year we’ve attended, last year seeing a fantastic turnout of over a dozen people, and this year seeing some fantastic weather and… dinosaurs! Sadly not real dinosaurs, but the temporary instalation are deffinitely worth a visit.
The anual Leith Dragon Boat event is always great fun, especially as our role is just to mingle with the other teams and offer to help out if they’re short of a paddler. Each team race to raise sponsorship for a charity of their choice, this year we helped teams fundraising for Barnardo’s Childrens Charity, and we’re pleased to report we won!
This Monday also saw the first meeting of our new meeting rota, which includes two social meetings in addition to our social activity. This week we met in the Black Cat on Rose St, which has an impressive selection of whiskys (although we all refrained). It also saw the first public appearance of our club selfie stick… don’t judge us 🙂
